Changes For Next Year

What a year this has been!  We have had one hell of a roller coaster ride this year and I am both happy and a little sad to see it go.  We are going to be implementing a lot of changes starting in January that I think will really help the guild.

First of all, to address the concern of too many minors in the group, we will be taking a page from Decipher's book.  No information may be disclosed about any person who is younger than 13.   Therefore, because we profile our players online, a minimum age of 13 is heretofore set for any player joining the Guild.  Furthermore, any player under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian playing in the Guild to play.  Not only is this a liability issue for the Guild, but for all members.

The scheduled games, hall of fame, Rules and forms, and Messages from the Praetor will either no longer be maintained or will not be maintained on a regular basis.  Player stats will be updated every time we play.  Scheduled Games will act as a calendar of events for the guild but will no longer be maintained as an account of our games.  I simply do not have the time to update the site every week as I have before.

The Guild will become part of an open architecture concept whereby some of the Guild leadership will fall to the members themselves.  As an example: The Guild Ambassador position will be eliminated as all members in the Guild should be Ambassadors for the group.  Members may write articles for the website, call leadership meetings, and will take a more active roll in decisions about where the Guild should go.

As a part of the open architecture plan, a new group will be formed to which the Star Trek Guild will be a part of.  We will be able to introduce other games into the Guild as well as introduce other gamers to Star Trek.

Every month we will hold an open tournament.  It will be advertised and promoted through any means we can afford.  Most tournaments will be 2nd Edition, however many will have a twist.

To solve the current budget crunch, Guild members will have to pay $5 per tournament until the budget crisis is over.  We will no longer have any fundraisers of any kind.  For the foreseeable future, Guild members will still have to pay for the tournaments, but at a significantly reduced cost.  This will help pay for food for the larger tournaments and prizes for all tournaments.

We will also be dropping the Convention this year.  Due to budgetary and time constraints, I do not feel that it will get the attention necessary for it to be a success.  Myself and other members feel that we should focus on the Guild and its members before we embark on a convention project.
