The Zen of Playing ST:CCG

I know we went a little harsh on some of the membership by calling the game like we did, but it is not that we were trying to be mean.  We just want everyone to get in as much practice as possible and still be out the door by 9 so everyone can catch Enterprise (and so my wife doesn't get mad as well).  To get an idea of the schedule we want to follow, here it is in black and white:

5:00 5:30 - 7:00 7:00-7:15 7:15-8:45 8:45-9:00
Arrival/announcements First game break Second game Closing/ notes

I will have the store open to guild members at 4:00 so that you will be able to work on your decks, go through the box(es) or just hang out and ask questions.  Chancellor Froelich is usually here by 4:30 getting ready for the game.  Officially, the games do not begin until 5:00, but that does not mean that you have to wait until 5:30 to start your game.  If both players are ready, you can start at 5:00 if you wish and get in an extra 30 minutes of play in.

Zen

The one thing that has helped both myself and The Chancellor (as well as other players) aside from practice, is relax, stay focused, and know what cards you have in your hand and how to use them.

Staying relaxed is probably the hardest thing to do during a game.  But if you can find a way to stay relaxed, staying focused is easy.  I still get nervous playing the Chancellor and under certain circumstances when playing other members.  However, I try to stay focused and keep my mind on the game.

Many of you have the potential of becoming powerful players and it is evident in the way you play.  I hope our "tough love" doesn't discourage you now or in the future.
