October 7 2001 Game Notes

Winners: Federation, Ferengi

"Death Death and more Death"

This game proved but one thing: A rebuilt fleet of old Federation starships and rag-tag crew with few security officers is no match for an Admiral with a well-established fleet of powerful Federation ships.  Each player was playing similar Federation decks and similar "killer" dilemmas, however, Terrill's rag-tag fleet of outdated ships looked insignificant to the very large and very powerful fleet the Admiral was holding.  While the fleet seemed to survive, it was the personnel that seemed to have a Lazarus complex.  Terrill's personnel constantly kept being killed and reincarnated by genetronic replicator then stopped or having to abandon the mission time and time again.  The lack of Captain's log and little security seemed to be the detriment to the deck.  Admiral Froelich pulls off a well deserved 117 to 70 victory in this cold war.

"War is good for business -- and quite profitable too!"

While both off to slow starts, Lt. Skidmore was the first out of the gate attempting to solve missions.  Damon Darc took a slightly different approach.  Using such cards as Static Warp Bubble and Telepathic Alien Kidnappers against his opponent which severely weakened his deck.  Each were solving missions when The Damon took a small fleet of ships to a location where Lt Skidmore was attempting a mission, and destroyed his fleet.  Damon flew to victory 100 to 45.
