The Guild is a Dictatorship?
It has been called to my attention that some of the members feel that we are running the guild like a dictatorship where the Admiral and I call all of the shots. While I disagree with that assertion, I can see how one might come to that conclusion. As Guild Leader it is my responsibility to address the concerns of the membership and so that is exactly what I am about to do.
First of all, when this issue came to my attention, I went into the Guild Charter and rewrote some of the guidelines to specifically address this issue and to outline specifically what each leader in the guild is responsible for. Fleet Admiral Froelich then printed copies out for all of the Guild members to have in order for everyone to understand what it is that we do. I strongly recommend that it be read by every member.
Second of all, I am not Moses passing down the word of God onto his flock. The announcements that we make every week are not commandments, nor are the rules absolute. Through Fleet admiral Froelich, we have successfully challenged several rules from Decipher and received several clarifications to existing rules. Our rules and "decrees" are no different. They are not made just because, there is a good reason why we make the rules that we do and if you do not like the rule, the rule can be challenged and a vote can be called. Many issues have been settled that way or through an online vote like the Black Hole being allowed in play.
Finally, my existence as Guild Leader is not forever. If you do not think I am doing a good job serving as Leader then challenge me. It is all outlined in the Guild Charter. In addition, sometime next year when all of this second edition stuff has cleared, we will call a vote to elect a Guild Leader. It will allow anyone who has been wanting a shot at the Head Chair to run for it.
So, I hope this has cleared the air for those of you concerned with all of this stuff.
