Common Mistakes Made During the Tournament
Beaming People into Space
It is really a bad idea to beam your people into space. Before beginning any mission, be sure the people on your ship are underneath your ship.
Lack of Confidence
If you go into a game with a self-defeating attitude you have already lost the game. A lack of confidence in yourself can prevent you from seeing opportunities that you could normally take advantage of.
Card organization
The suggested method of organizing cards can be mandatory in a tournament. The lines on the various tables is not just a fluke, but is intended for you to be able keep track of your cards more easily.
Cutting Decks
Several instances I saw of players cutting other player's decks and placing them in the exact (or nearly exact) same order as they had started with. The point of cutting a deck is to rearrange the draw deck so that you feel confident that your opponent has not stacked the deck in his favor. By putting the deck back in its original configuration, your opponent could have stacked the deck and you have just allowed them to do that.
Non-Aggression
There were times during the tournament where it was like watching sheep play. To win you have to want to win, and to do that you need to be aggressive. Don't give up just because you encounter one nasty dilemma.
